I never imagined getting to publish physical books, let alone books on cosplay photography.

These books actually stemmed out from the talks I have been giving under Canon. As much as I've memorized the slides, I felt that certain concepts and theories have started falling through cracks in my talks. So before I totally forget about them, I've started transcribing my talk into articles in a blog. Most of these things have resided as patches of articles until friends subtly egged me to compile everything into a book. With the help of awesome people in National Book Store / Anvil Publishing, they finally got it off the press.

Geekology 2.0: Techniques in Cosplay Photography

  • Paperback
  • Publisher: Anvil Publishing, Inc. (2015)
  • ISBN-10: 9712730816
  • ISBN-13: 978-9712730818

Geekology 2.0 continues the pursuit of the geek dream of bringing out our favorite comic book and anime characters to life into the photographic medium.

Jay’s sophomore foray into this genre goes beyond the typical show-and-tell picture book. It dives in-depth and show how a good number of the images go through the creative processes from brainstorming to the step-by-step of post-production. Apart from the images, it also touches theories and concepts behind character creation and the search for the next big idea.

The book comes as a dual inversed cover with cosplay goddess Alodia Gosiengfiao and primetime queen Marian Rivera gracing the front pages.

Available through Amazon.com and Anvil Publishing.
