Dropped by Komikon‘s Indieket event in Unilab’s Bayanihan Center last weekend. It’s a gathering of local independent comic book creators, and fans alike celebrating homegrown artistic talent.
Though not as big as the main Komikon itself, you could feel a more grassroots and passionate vibe out of the place. People who go here really love their comics, and local ones at that. Given how the comic books industry literally died back in the 80s-90s, this resurgence takes on learnings from the past and remaking itself for a wider appreciation.
I hope one day our local titles would get the right exposure and eventually we get to export our stuff for other countries to enjoy.
